1. Who We Are

Moneylyn ("we," "us," or "our") is a free financial calculator platform accessible at this website. We provide educational financial planning tools for users in Pakistan, the United States, and internationally. We are not a bank, licensed financial adviser, investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax professional, or registered investment company in any jurisdiction.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

Account registration: If you create an optional account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. Signup is never required to use any calculator.
Saved calculations: If you choose to save a calculation, we store the inputs you entered and the results generated. This data is linked to your account.
Feedback submissions: If you submit feedback, we collect your rating, comment text, and the URL of the page you were on when you submitted (so we can investigate issues). Feedback can be submitted anonymously.

2.2 Information collected automatically

Calculator inputs: Numbers you enter into calculators are processed in your browser to generate results. We do not log or store calculator inputs unless you explicitly save a calculation.
Usage analytics: We may collect anonymized, aggregated data about which calculators are used most frequently to improve the platform. This data does not identify individual users.
Server logs: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) may be retained for security and debugging purposes for up to 90 days.

2.3 Third-party advertising (Google AdSense — International pages only)

Important: The international version of Moneylyn (pages at /intl/...) displays advertisements served by Google AdSense.

Google AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve advertisements. Google may use data about your visits to this and other websites to show you personalized ads based on your browsing history. This constitutes sharing data with a third party for advertising purposes.

Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
California residents: Google's advertising data practices may constitute a "sale" of personal information under the CCPA. See Section 5 below for your rights.
Pakistan-specific calculators (pages at /pk/...) do not display AdSense advertisements.

3. How We Use Your Information

To operate and deliver calculator results
To enable account features (saved calculations, calculation history)
To improve calculator accuracy and add new tools based on usage patterns
To respond to feedback and fix reported errors
To maintain the security and integrity of the platform
To display advertisements on international pages (Google AdSense only)

We do not use your data to: sell financial products, generate leads for lenders or advisers, create individual credit or financial risk profiles, or make automated decisions that affect your legal rights.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information to lenders, financial advisers, data brokers, or marketing companies.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

Google AdSense: As described in Section 2.3, Google receives data about your visits to international pages for advertising purposes.
Supabase (infrastructure): We use Supabase to store account data and saved calculations. Supabase processes this data on our behalf as a data processor.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
Business transfers: If Moneylyn is acquired or merged, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

5. Your Rights

For users in the United States (CCPA — California residents)

California residents have the right to:

Know what personal information we collect, use, and share
Delete personal information we hold about you
Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (including for cross-context behavioral advertising via Google AdSense)
Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

For users in the European Union and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)

EU and UK residents have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal data
Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
Restrict or object to processing
Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

Our legal basis for processing account data is contract performance (providing the account service you requested). Our legal basis for analytics is legitimate interests (improving the platform). Our legal basis for AdSense is consent where required by applicable law.

For all users

You may delete your account and all associated saved calculations at any time from your account settings. Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days.

6. Data Retention

Account data: Retained until you delete your account or request deletion
Saved calculations: Retained until deleted by you or your account is deleted
Feedback submissions: Retained for up to 2 years for quality improvement purposes
Server logs: Retained for up to 90 days for security purposes, then deleted
Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized — no retention limit as no personal data is stored

7. Cookies

Moneylyn uses the following types of cookies:

Essential cookies: Session authentication (if you are logged in) and region preference (PK/International). These are required for the site to function.
Advertising cookies (international pages only): Google AdSense sets cookies to serve and measure advertisements. These are third-party cookies subject to Google's cookie policy.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling advertising cookies will not affect the calculators — they will continue to function normally.

8. Children's Privacy

Moneylyn is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@moneylyn.app and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and hashed password storage. No internet transmission is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Moneylyn after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes affecting how we use personal data, we will notify registered users by email.
